Overview
Kidepo Valley National Park is Uganda’s most remote and least explored national park, yet it is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most breathtaking wilderness areas. Located in the semi-arid valleys of Karamoja, the park borders South Sudan to the northwest and Kenya just 5km to the east, sitting approximately 700km from Kampala.
First gazetted as a national park in 1962, Kidepo is a true safari gem, boasting an incredible variety of big game, unique landscapes, and rich birdlife. It is home to over 77 mammal species and an impressive 476 bird species, making it a prime destination for wildlife lovers and adventure seekers.

Itinerary
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala around 6:00 AM.
Begin a panoramic drive north to Kidepo Valley National Park via Gulu and Lira, with lunch taken en route.
The drive offers stunning views of vast plains and a spectacular mountain landscape as you enter the park.

Today you shall do a full day safari in Kidepo Valley National Park. You will explore the Narus Valley in the south of the park which is the greener part of the park and has the only permanent water sources. As result the south hosts most of the animals in Kidepo National Park. Later you would transfer to the Kidepo Valley in the north of the park. The north is drier and has less animals but is a unique wilderness with the dry sandy bed of Kidepo river that is beautiful lined with palm trees, hot springs.

In the afternoon you shall go on a tour of the Karamojong community near the park and experience their unique way of life which is still authentic. The Karamojong will show you their unique housing called the Manyatta, inform you about their traditions, and entertain you with their traditional dancing.

Today you shall go for the whole day hike on Mt. Morungole in the north of the park. Along the mountain you shall visit the IK people. The IK is a unique tribe in Uganda because its traditions, language and way of life is not similar to any other people in Uganda.

Start the day with an early morning game drive to spot wildlife such as Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, and potentially the leopard.
After lunch, embark on a boat safari upstream on the Victoria Nile to the base of the mighty Murchison Falls, viewing hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species (including the rare shoebill stork).
From the boat, you will start a moderate hike to the Top of the Falls to witness the Nile River explode through a narrow gorge.
