Jewels of Tanzania

Tarangire National Park • Ngorongoro Conservation Area • Serengeti National Park

About This Journey

Introduction

We invite you to discover three of Tanzania’s most iconic safari destinations: Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park.

This carefully designed journey brings together spectacular landscapes and some of Tanzania’s richest wildlife habitats. Across the safari, we have excellent opportunities to encounter the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and black rhino — alongside many other species that thrive across the northern safari circuit.

We begin among the baobab-studded landscapes of Tarangire, where wildlife gathers around the Tarangire River during the dry season. From there, we continue to the Ngorongoro region, combining wildlife exploration with a peaceful stay at a former coffee farm.

Our journey then moves into the legendary Serengeti, where vast plains, resident wildlife and the movements of the Great Migration create an exceptional safari experience. Throughout the trip, we balance exciting game drives with time to relax and appreciate the landscapes and hospitality of northern Tanzania.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kilimanjaro to Tarangire National Park

After arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we meet you and begin the journey towards Tarangire National Park.

We transfer by road to our selected lodge in Tarangire, where we spend the next two nights surrounded by the park’s remarkable wilderness.

Tarangire is sometimes quieter than Tanzania’s better-known safari destinations, yet it supports an impressive variety of wildlife. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a vital water source, drawing large numbers of animals from across the surrounding landscape.

After settling into camp, we can relax and begin enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of this distinctive Tanzanian wilderness.

Day 2: Exploring Tarangire National Park

Today we dedicate the day to discovering Tarangire National Park.

We can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, exploring different areas of the park as we search for elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo and other wildlife.

Tarangire also offers a more relaxed way to experience wildlife. When we are back at the lodge, we can enjoy what we like to call a “sofa safari”, watching animals from the comfort of camp as they visit the waterhole located nearby.

The combination of traditional game drives and wildlife viewing from the lodge gives us two very different perspectives of Tarangire’s wildlife.

Day 3: Tarangire National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, we leave Tarangire and drive towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Our destination is a tranquil farm-style property in the Ngorongoro region, where we spend the next three nights. Set within attractive gardens and a former coffee-growing environment, the farm provides a peaceful contrast to our time on safari.

We have the opportunity to learn more about life on the farm while enjoying the surrounding countryside.

A major highlight of our stay is also ahead of us: a full-day safari into the remarkable Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 4: Full-Day Safari in Ngorongoro Crater

Today we descend into the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day wildlife adventure.

The crater is an ancient volcanic caldera formed millions of years ago. Its fertile floor supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife and provides a dramatic setting for game viewing.

As we explore the crater, we search for a wide range of animals, including lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras and other plains species. With its natural crater walls surrounding the wildlife-rich floor, Ngorongoro offers one of Tanzania’s most distinctive safari landscapes.

We enjoy a full day within this extraordinary natural environment before returning to our accommodation later in the day.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Today provides a slower pace after our full-day crater safari.

We can spend time enjoying the peaceful surroundings of our farm accommodation and appreciating its gardens, scenery and rural atmosphere.

For travelers who would like to remain active, we can also arrange optional excursions to make the most of our time in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

This flexible day gives us the opportunity to experience a different side of northern Tanzania beyond traditional game drives.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Park

We leave the Ngorongoro region and transfer to Lake Manyara Airstrip for our flight to the Serengeti.

After arriving in the Serengeti, we begin our wildlife experience immediately with a game drive along the route to camp.

For the next three days, we stay in a traditional luxury tented camp in the Serengeti. The camp combines the atmosphere of classic safari camping with comfortable amenities, including proper beds, warm bedding, spacious seating and private flushing facilities.

The setting allows us to remain close to nature while still enjoying a high level of comfort.

Days 7 & 8: Serengeti National Park

We spend two full days exploring the magnificent Serengeti National Park.

Our camp’s location and movements are planned around the seasonal patterns of the Great Migration, helping us remain close to areas where wildebeest activity is strongest.

The Serengeti, however, offers rewarding wildlife encounters throughout the year, even when the migration has moved elsewhere.

Depending on the area and season, we may encounter large numbers of wildebeest, zebra and other plains animals, alongside the Serengeti’s famous predators. The park is particularly rewarding for big-cat sightings, with opportunities to see lions, leopards and cheetahs.

In the northern Serengeti, there are opportunities to search for rhinos, while large herds of elephants and buffalo can be found moving across the expansive plains.

We structure our game drives around wildlife activity and seasonal conditions, giving us the best possible opportunity to experience the Serengeti at its most natural.

Day 9: Serengeti National Park to Kilimanjaro

Our Tanzanian safari comes to an end today.

After breakfast, we transfer to the nearby airstrip for our flight towards Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Upon arrival, our safari arrangements conclude.

Our journey has taken us through three exceptional destinations — Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti — combining diverse landscapes, remarkable wildlife, comfortable accommodation and authentic safari experiences.

From Tarangire’s elephant-filled landscapes and Ngorongoro’s wildlife-rich crater to the endless plains of the Serengeti, this itinerary offers a memorable introduction to the natural treasures of northern Tanzania.
